Canon Unveils a new Digital Cine Camera: Canon EOS C300 [Review]
Canon launches a new Stylish Digital Cine Camera, Canon EOS C300 serving the evolving needs of Today’s Cinematographer. Canon EOS C300 is a high-end camera, designed primarily to compete in the segment for recording Full HD video, where Canon is known for its good products. Form factor, ergonomics, image processing and lenses – re-imagined to tailor the experience of shooting to the needs of professional cinematography crews.

With 8.3 MP sensor and an 35MM-equivalent 16:9 Large CMOS sensor, Canon EOS C300 has a native resolution of 2160 × 3840 pixels with much emphasis on video recording in HD, which is also capable of achieving resolutions of 1080p with framerates of 59.94P, 29.97P, 23.98P and more. This camera uses MXF file format and a codec MPEG-2 -sampled to 4:2:2 and btirates of 50 Mbps.
For Storage, Canon has chosen Compact Flash Cards that too has dual slots, although virtually obsolete in the world of consumption, are widely used in professional environments. In fact, Canon’s engineers have designed this Camera thinking about the world of cinema, for which they have chosen a modular design. So you can add grips, handles or external viewers, so that the users opens up a whole world of possibilities for computer configuration.
The interesting thing about this new Camera is that Canon has sought to build a whole new ecosystem around it. So, have introduced a whole new range of lenses specially designed for use in conjunction with it. Canon’s 4K compatible wide angle and tele zoom lenses offer stunning optical clarity and performance for demanding high-end productions. Available in both PL- and EF-mount versions.
The wide-angle CN-E14.5-60mm T2.6 L provides industry-leading breadth of range; the telephoto CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7 L rivals best-in-class zoom magnification and telephoto focal length. Together these lenses cover the range most commonly used in cinema shooting.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY:
Available in both EF and PL mount, this new Digital Cine Camera will roll out for sale from next January at a price tag of $16000.
